Okay, but nothing special. I don;t desire driving miles just for their BBQ. I prefer other local spots over this place....but, if nothing else is open, and I crave BBQ, well, okay, I'll settle. I am in the minority. Most love Front Range. It is good enough that I suggest you go and try it for yourself before agreeing or disagreeing with me.

Ambiance: Old home that has been converted into a restaurant plus an outdoor patio area. Inside very cozy, with the few tables they have very close together. Woodsy kinda feel. Outside patio has about a dozen or so tables, also very close together. Up until a few years ago, the outside patio was uncovered (which I liked much better, as it had a more open feel). I guess to increase the amount of seating in inclement weather, the owners decided to cover the patio area. Live music plays periodically on the patio on weekends. Relaxed vibe. Food: Pretty decent BBQ and decent side dishes as well. Choose from three BBQ sauces (a regular hickory smoke, a tangy and sweet variety, and a mustard-based sauce, which is not very good). Their BBQ sauces in general are rather ordinary, but decent. Not a fan of their ribs (if you are used to super tender pork ribs, in which the meat just falls off the bone, you will be disappointed.) Their BBQ salads are good (especially with pulled pork or chicken). Good pecan pie and banana pudding for dessert. Service: Hit and miss. I was there a few weeks ago with a party of 12 from work, and was pleased with the service. However, I returned last night for dinner with a party of four, and received terrible service. Hard to tell who the waitress was (split between two different waitresses). I ordered the chicken, and the waitress left to see if it was still available (how can you run out of chicken at 7pm on a Saturday night at a BBQ joint?). She did not return for almost five minutes, only to say, yes, we still have it. Our appetizers of fried okra and fried artichokes arrived (pretty standard by-the-way). Without any silverware or plates. When we were almost finished with our starters, the other waitress came, saying, I can't believe you were served appetizers without plates, then blamed the other waitress for the mishap. Waitress throughout the meal copped a bit of an attitude, and constantly interrupted everyone at the table anytime we were speaking to her, finishing our sentences for us, as if she was trying to get us to hurry along. Overall, food is good, and I am not going to let one time of bad service influence my overall rating, as I have eaten here many, many times, and usually pretty happy with service, and with the food (as long as you order the right thing). You will have had better BBQ than Front Range, but it is better than some of the other places in town.

4 stars for atmosphere and service. 1 star for the pasty chicken and mashed potatoes which stayed too long under the heat lamp, 5 stars for the smoked artichokes and pecan pie.
(3)Tracy V.
Excellent food, GREAT setting in an old house with patio. Wear your jeans and bring a big appetite!!
(4)Warren P.
One great reason to come here is their weekly Wednesday bluegrass music night. The bartender Val is awesome, and the beer is reasonably priced. Usually locals Grass It Up play, but they keep it fresh with other bands as well. I don't even really like bluegrass, to be honest, but the scene itself and the energy and the great people are what keep me coming back again and again.

Very Good BBQ with a good beer selection. Patio is a nice place to hang out on and chill. great location in the heart of Old CC.
(5)Kelly M.
The best BBQ In Colorado!! If the weather is decent sit on the patio. Order your food sauced. You can try any sort of Colorado delicacy liek Buffalo or Elk. The Pecan Pie and Apple Crisp is to die for.....literally. My grandmother insists on going there every time she visits from CA since she says " They have the best pecan pie I have ever had in my life!!" My hubby enjoys the local brews and ribs every time we go My kids enjoy it every time, they love the patio seating during lunch (some evenings they have live music on th epatio, could be a bit loud for kids, but the seating indoors is great too) The resturant is actually an old house and makes for a charming atmosphere * A must and even located in Old Colorado City, so you can walk off your meal...or at least try to.....the potions are HUGE!! ENJOY!!!

The barbeque is good, not great, but the camping-type atmosphere is what makes Front Range a good place to visit. You definitely feel like you're in Colorado when you eat at Front Range. You'll hear bluegrass live or on the stereo, be surrounded by the slightly rugged, relaxed crowd found everywhere in CO and have some good food. Front Range reminds me of a well done camping trip up in the mountains. Sit back, have some meat and some old-school sides (beans and cornbread are very good) and drink some colorado beer.

Great BBQ at a great price. I can't say I've ever had anything that I didn't like and the family loves it here.

We went twice before leaving a review. First time the place was pretty empty, maybe 3 other tables. The food came out fast, but the waitress forgot about us on a few occasions..and we both ordered ribs & we had to ask for napkins. Food was just ok. Went again tonight. They were very busy which is to be expected on Valentine's day, which is why we made a reservation. The hostess/clearer was very friendly and helpful (had a nice owl chest piece, didn't catch her name). However our waitress with the lipring and very sloppy hair was far from either. Took 30+ minutes before we were served our food, which was luke warm. I received the wrong drink, she then took 2 of 3 cups to refill and still had not returned with them. 20 minutes later we asked for our bill next time we could flag one of them down. (When she walked up empty handed and just gave us a thumbs up as if everything was great) 7 minutes later another girl came by to ask if we needed our bill and we said sure. We have never NOT left a tip before, but I had no problem doing so tonight. Food was pretty shabby, wouldn't even say Ok this time. Was disappointing :(

Can't wait to go back and try more of what they have to offer. My mom and I split a hamburger that was just delicious! I loved the ambiance and the little dog that ran through the bar!

This is our preferred BBQ place in the Springs so far (we have yet to try Charlie's in Manitou). Love love LOVE the Mustard Wine sauce. I wish the original had a little touch of heat to it but they have 2 kinds of hot sauce at the table (Frank's and green Tobasco). The little muffins they give you are good but I prefer the hushpuppies. The cole slaw is pretty good too. The fried onions that come with the plate are always delicious. This time I got the ribs and pulled pork. The pork was really good; I was a little sad that my ribs weren't hot though. Then again I can't remember if they're supposed to be served just warm, AND I ate them last (on a huge plate of food) so the cooling might have been my own fault. I got them plain with no sauce-next time I will order them with the sweet sauce cooked on. The sugar in the sauce just tastes so good once it has the chance to carmelize from the heat. It's ok with the sauce at the table but I know for next time. The bones just pulled right out of the meat too, I ended up just popping the ribs out and eating the meat with my fork. I wasn't as happy with my dessert. The banana pudding isn't like what I'm used to back home. It's got a syrup on it, kind of what you find on flan. I really don't like flan (or that syrup) so I wasn't that happy with it but if flan's your thing you should try this. It comes with nicely browned merengue on the top and is made with vanilla pudding, not that banana-flavored crap. I will be trying the pecan pie next time. I miss a good piece of pecan pie! Now if only they'd serve divinity...

I bought a deal off one of the coupon sites so I could try this place out. I had very very high expectations as this place has been voted best bbq a few times. I was very disappointed in my experience and you can bet I won't be back. So I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to make a to go order. Place was busy and I found a table to sit down and make my order. Well the inattentive wait staff and hostess completely ignored me. I sat for about 15 minutes and finally stopped the hostess and asked if there wasn't a server for my area. She mumbled something and went off. Another 10 minutes and I'm pretty much seething but since I have the certificate I need to use it. I shrug my shoulders as she walks by to indicate WAZZUP??? She said oh I told her and walks back I guess to find someone. I was sitting there observing these other people that had to ask their waitress for refills. She just kind of stared at them blankly and mumbled something and then went off to get their drinks. What in the world is with the wait staff there? It's like they are all SPACED OUT and oblivious to the world. I finally got someone to take my order and on her behalf she was very sweet to me. Ok so get the food home. I ordered a full slab of ribs to share with another person. We had the original tangy sauce, spicy coleslaw and green bean with onions and supposedly bacon which we never found. The meat was fine and the sauce was ehhhhh? Nothing special. Maybe I sould have tried the sweet and spicy. Green beans tasted out of the can with maybe one onion bit and bacon was MIA. Coleslaw was watery but edible. We got two little dinky cheese muffins with this huge slab of ribs. I spent extra for their apple crunch dessert. This was big enough for two to share. It was fine not spectucular and topped with vanilla ice cream from Colo Creamery which was good. So there's my account and truthfully I would rather go to a chain like Famous Dave's where I'll have attentive service and good bbq sauce. I won't go back because it's overrated, dark and dismal in there and their waitstaff is horrible.
(2)Tim B.
Completely fantastic barbeque. I love the little cheddar corn muffins with everything. Usually go there for lunch, went once for supper and it was a crowded and noisy, not quite as pleasant.

My husband and I stopped into Front Range BBQ on Monday afternoon, after spending the afternoon out and about. It was about 2:30 when we stopped in. We walked in, and it was like walking into a dungeon. It was so dark. We looked around and waited for a server to seat us, or direct us where to go, but no one came for about two minutes. Finally, a girl asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, we chose out and she left. Apparently we were supposed to be following her, would have been nice if she would have said something or motioned. We sat out on the patio and waited 10 minutes before our waitress came over to get our drink order. There were 3 other tables full on the patio, with two waiters. Another table got seated, were asked their orders, and got their drinks before our waitress even came by. We got our food, the buffalo burger and fries for me, pulled pork sandwich and fries for hubby, which was good, but not amazing. We finished and waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come back with our check. We won't be back to Front Range...EVER.

For me, this was just one of those rare, generally excellent dining experiences. First of all, the atmosphere here is really nice. It's in a converted house, so the entire time I felt very cozy and comfortable. Johnny Cash was the perfect accompaniment to food that reminded me of something I would have had at my grandmother's house on a Sunday afternoon when I was younger (which is definitely a compliment). The staff was very friendly, and the food arrived ridiculously fast considering how good it was. I had chicken and brisket; it was tender and juicy and smoky. There were three different sauces on the table that were all delicious, and the sides are great as well. Go when you have extra time to sit back, relax, and enjoy some good food and a great atmosphere.

I've been a regular over at Fire House since it opened and had heard lots of great things about Front Range but didn't want to cheat on my BBQ steady...this last week I finally tried it and it was worth stepping out for. The menu is vast but familiar. I loved that they served bison and buffalo and they offered some unique takes on old favorites like a smoked artichoke heart appetizer that is splendid. Prices are extremely reasonable and as always - anyone that serves ACE Pear Cider (which they do) earns big points. Score again for the west side, which, continually seems to produce the best food anywhere in town without pretension.
(5)Matt C.
This place is a weak three stars. I love the beers, I love the food, I love the music and I love the concept, but I can't stand the staff. I always feel like I am some sort of burden on them. They never seem to want to be bothered. No one would even help me with the selection of beers, which looked impressive. I was just looking for some simple questions answered (i.e. is this hoppy, is that a stout...) all things you can't tell by looking at a tap. And this wasn't an isolated incident. With the exception of one waitress I've had there, who was spectacular, the rest of the staff has this sense that they are some sort of big club and I am lucky be on the list. I might bring friends from out of town there for their food, but this is definitely not a place I will be wasting my money in.
(3)Erin H.
I'm a regular. I'm there at least twice per month, and that won't be changing any time soon. The music on the patio is the best you'll find in the Springs. The atmosphere is the perfect mix of relaxed mood, good food, great music, and the best beer on a regular but rotating basis of any business in town. My only criticism is that occasionally the wait staff isn't as knowledgeable as they should be about the beer list, but it changes so often that I'm not sure how they ever could be. Front Range is a very important part of my social group. Nothing to do on a Wednesday night? You'll find a friend at Front Range!
(5)Justin A.
The pulled pork plate was awesome! Great local beers and big plates. Will definitely be back
(5)Ashley B.
My friend who lives in Colorado Springs took me here while I was visiting and I must say that I was very happy with it. They have this cute little bar if you want a drink while you are waiting for your table and the bartender is nice and willing to answer any questions! We sat on the covered patio and it was wonderful, my boyfriend and I shared a plate of steak, ribs, and sausage with some amazing sides, like fried Okra! I was so happy with it and the beers were at a great price and they had some awesome local brews on tap, and I love tasting the local brews! While we were sitting, a Blue Grass band played...and I know, I would never think I would enjoy it, but it was so nice and refreshing and they had such a great personality, and apparently they do it on a weekly basis. So, if you want some chill music and some wonderful wait staff and some great food, you should definitely stop on by!
(5)Jordan A.
Very cute little place. Tasty food, friendly and competent service, appropriately-sized portions.
(4)MikeNRocio P.
Kind of a small unassuming place, but the food was great and so was the service. We thoroughly enjoyed the Old South Brunswick Stew, Country Fried Okra, Baked Beans with Bacon and Onions, and the Louisiana Red Beans n' Rice. It's not often you can have make a lunch just from the appetizer menu, but this was worth it. I don't recall the beer, but I'm partial to dark beer and they had some good choices available. Relaxing spot for a late lunch.

Excellent food! Let me break it down: Appetizer: Smoked Artichokes. Everything looked good, but the smokey flavor on these is incredible. Not just good, incredible. Sides: The red beans and rice. I ordered these planning to add a little hot sauce for fun, but they had a nice kick to them and didn't need it. French fries were...well they were french fries, nothing to complain about! Main course: My wife ordered pulled pork and kielbasa, and I had a half rack of naked ribs. The ribs were good, very tender, passed the "fall off the bone" test, with a basic rub that served them well. The cut of meat wasn't the best, not very well marbled and a little bit fatty, but it was still an above average rack of ribs. The pulled pork didn't carry a lot of smoke, but it was VERY juicy, and very very good. Enough flavor to not need sauce, but smokeless enough that you might want to add some, based on preference. The high point of the meal though was the kielbasa; this is probably the best sausage I've ever had. Get you some kielbasa! Table Sauce: I'm a table sauce kind of guy. I like to experiment with it, add it to naked ribs, etc. The sweet and spicy was best on the ribs, and the mustard and wine sauce was perfect on the kielbasa. Strongly recommended. Colorado isn't the first place I'd go for BBQ (but neither is Philly) but this is definitely some above average stuff. If you're in the area, I say stop in.
(5)Arty Z.
Had the full range: A rack, some chicken, some brisket... Good beers, *excellent* service. Really nice. Seriously, really nice. I would give them 5 stars, but I didn't have an orgasim.
(4)Scott H.
FANTASTIC! Being from the South it's tough to beat Southern BBQ but...this is one of the Best BBQ places I have ever been to. Small and kinda hidden in Old Colorado City but worth the visit. We went twice on our recent vacation. Great Food and Great Beers!!!
(5)Adrienn H.
This place is a mixed bag for me! The food is really bad, but the people and the atmosphere is great. I will say that I have never gone back. This was the first BBQ place in Colorado that i tried. It's no Texas, I'll tell you that much. Dripping wet and shredded brisket it not the way it should be done. Despite this being the thing in Colorado, from a taste and appearance alone, I prefer smoked and sliced! Like I said though this place has great service, live music, great beer selection, and super friendly patrons. Don't order the brisket and you should be fine!
(2)Samuel F.
On the plus sides, service, homey feel, fair quality food. On the nueteral, pricing is middle of the road totes as bbq but feels like bar food. On the negative, bbq sauce not authentic or good, really would have liked cole slaw that was normal/more zesty
(3)W B.
This is a nice little place. We had a large group and inside was a little crammed, and still a little too cold for outside. The meat was cooked very well, the mashed potatoes were very good, did not like the red beans and rice at all. The original sauce and spicy sauce were pretty good, but not great. I think this is more of a going out place, with live bands and drinks, but for a family it was just ok.
(3)Violet H.
Went here with high hopes, and ended up leaving a bit disappointed. Although the place was busy, there were plenty of tables available, but it took a long, long time to get seated. The one person in charge of seating seemed completely overwhelmed. When she finally stopped, she helped the man who arrived after I had. Many other employees walked by, and they just ignored me and the others in line. As I waited and waited, the line behind me grew to about 20 people. Despite this, no one else came ot help unitl I had been standing there about 15 minutes. When I was finally seated, the service and the food were prompt. There is an extensive menu. I settled on the trio combo with pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket. The brisket was shredded, which surpised me. All three were moist and fairly tasty. The original tangy BBQ sauce is good. The sweet and spicy was also good, with a mild kick to it. The baked beans and the cheddar corn muffins get the thumbs up, but the green beans were uninspiring. The onion straws thrown on top of the meat just got in the way. They made the plate messy looking and they got into everything. Based on reviews here and a recommendation from a local, I expected more. I've had better, and I've had worse.
(3)Ashley F.
Our family ate here and it was really quite tasty. But not "great" barbecue. I am from Minneapolis, and maybe I am spoiled by all our awesome (and cheap) BBQ places. But since this is in Colorado Springs, I will still give it a four, since culinary offerings there are slim in the Springs. I had a half rack of ribs, and they were pretty good. The sauce was nothing to write home about. My favorite thing of the whole meal was the hushpuppies. Probably the best Barbeque in Colorado Springs.
(4)jeff k.
Went back in and was disappointed to be severed chopped brisket that tasted like dry pulled pork. I was looking forward to their normal sliced brisket. BOO
(4)Courtney R.
Great BBQ, awesome bands, incredible beer list...I'm a super fan. This is a MUST when in the Springs.
(5)jacquie b.
My husband and I just happened upon this place and WOW......... Best q in forever ago. The server was friendly, the atmosphere was very comfortable and like the southern rock style music playing. We shared ribs, pulled chicken and brisket. The sides were awesome and the sweet tea kicks butt. Don't get that far down south too often, but that will be our spot.
(5)Sarah S.
Food was excellant! Had music playing but couldnt hear it very well. Definitly a must try tho!
(4)Sarah O.
I'd read a review that said the ribs weren't fall-off-the-bone so didn't expect much... but we ordered a rib combo (with beef brisket) and shared it -- and the ribs were actually better than I expected. The meat DID fall off the bone. We ordered with regular sauce which was fine, nothing special. I tried some of the tangy on the side and didn't love it. The combo was enough for my husband and I to split, because we'd ordered the smoked artichoke appetizer (mmm!). Not the best bbq I've had, but it was solid. Lots of beers on tap... And our waitress was excellent. And the atmosphere was unique. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Colorado Springs.
(4)Paul B.
I've never once been disappointed by the food or experience at Front Range. Beats Famous Dave's hands down.
(5)Michael L.
If you're looking for BBQ in Colorado Springs, Front Range is a good choice. We went twice in two weeks, if that's any indication of how much my friends enjoyed it. One evening there was a good bluegrass band playing on the patio. There's a good beer selection, though I suppose that's pretty typical for CO.
(4)E L.
We came here on a Friday night and sat on the patio for the evening's entertainment. It was warm enough in November and the enclosed patio was heated so we were very comfortable. The music was great. Added bonus to get entertainment and food at the same place. The food was OK. Pulled pork was good. Loved the beans. The chicken was dry and the sausage was ok. The fried artichokes can not be passed up. They were sooooooo good, however it was $1 per artichoke! So the food was so-so. However the prices were a little steep for the so-so food. So overall the tradeoff is you get good entertainment with the overpriced food.
(3)Phil S.
Front Range is where it's at. You can smell the smokey barbecue goodness from a block away. They had a great band playing that added to the atmosphere. My girlfriend and I ordered the rib appetizer and they were as good as it gets. We also got to try the sausage and the pulled chicken that were both awesome. Last but not least they had an amazing beer selection including a great tap lineup and a bottle menu that blew my mind. I have never seen a place charge retail for bottles, they have bottles for 15 that I have seen other places for upwards of 30. Front Range BBQ is the place to go for BBQ and beer lovers alike.
(5)Danny B.
A guy at the Manitou Springs liquor store told us about this place. Cozy and dark, neat little bar. Would definately come back on my next trip to Colorado Springs!
(4)Joanna Z.
My husband and I are Texans, so we know barbeque. I read the Yelp reviews before we came, so I avoided the barbeque in favor of the burger. My husband still decided to get the brisket despite my caution. My observation is that Front Range is more of a hipster hangout than a good restaurant. We waited and waited for our table, and then service was super slow. The food turned out to be mediocre and greasy, which we probably should have predicted. We don't be coming back.
(3)Kendal F.
BBQ was decent...I had a half-rack of babyback ribs which tasted good, but not great. The tables on the patio were way too close together, and it felt claustrophobic. There was also poor ventilation so it got pretty muggy. The service was poor- they were plenty nice, but spaced out several things and were inefficient...it seemed like they were all high. Which they probably were; after all, this is Old Colorado City.
(2)Kyle L.
Of the eight or nine times i have had the pleasure of visiting Colorado Springs i have always tried to stop by this delicious spot. The food is fantastic - the best BBQ i came across while i lived in Colorado. The place has live music, a friendly wait staff, and a great environment. Take shelter from the rain & thunderstorms of the Springs to eat some really good food. I highly recommend it.
(5)Michael M.
Best Burger on the OC Trail. Inconsistent sweet tea.
(3)Joe B.
Front Range BBQ is a small little place in OCC (Old Colorado City) that serves up some great BBQ and local beer. I'm partial to the sandwiches that come topped with onion straws but everything else is delicious as well. You can drink local Bristol beer on the outdoor patio as you listen to bluegrass on wednesday nights. The prices are good and the service is nice, but a little slow at times so relax and enjoy the beer and Colorado sun.
(4)Dean S.
Friendly staff! brought water for the dogs. The artachoks were great get them.Fried ockra turned out to not be my thing but they werent bad. i got the platter. The dry rib ribs are deliciousness. Puled pork is good. And the briskit is pirty good also DOG FRIENDLY!
(4)Char T.
While I still don't love the food, the beer and music are great. Music on Wed. nights has been good every time I have gone. If you want a table get there early expect to stand. If your getting food don't skip the smoked artichoke hearts and hush puppies they are great. Other than that I'll stick to the burgers and salads, I still don't care for any of the BBQ I have tried.
(3)Maggie L.
Atmosphere here is wonderful, kitschy, quaint, funky, definitely a great place to hang out at. The patio is lovely, you get the outdoor feeling but it's enclosed so you don't have to see all the busy traffic. They had live music the night we went and we were seated right by the speaker which was a bit annoying but we told the server it was fine so I'm not using that to judge at all. Also, love the location! We live in the Old Colo City area and loved the walk down. The prices were decent and the food was excellent. The only issue, my boyfriend and I both had awful stomach aches the next day. Not sure why, the food was cooked well and tasted good. I would recommend for the atmosphere and drinks more than the food.
(3)George N.
This was a great experience. It was the end of a hard day and I was looking for a casual place to relax and enjoy. I wended my way through the crowded former house into the side covered patio and was able to get a table. It didn't take long for an ice cold beer to land on my table-- one of a broad selection I might add. My waiter was a really geniunely nice skater dude type who got back up from a guy I'm guessing was the owner. Together they took pretty good care of me. They consider their ribs to be the specialty of the house, so when in Rome... I found they pulled easy from the bone and had lots of flavor. Rib purists will steer you toward plain ribs with sauce available on the table. I like to go with the recommendations, so that's how I had mine. They were very good. The sides-- particularly the red beans and rice-- were also very good. But I gotta say, in retrospect I probably like a little of the carmelization ribs get when the sauce hits them on the grill. So maybe next time I'll change my tune a little. But the place was full up for a reason. I'll definitely be back.
(4)Jeff M.
This was our first visit to Front Range BBQ. The food was great and prices very fair. We had the brisket and catfish. Would recommend to anyone. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 star was the extended wait time at lunch to get a table (20 min). The restaurant is small with limited area but this place is busy for a reason. Good Food!!!
(4)G D.
Right off the main drag of Colorado Avenue, with only street parking apparently. Pretty interesting building with a variety of extensively decorated spaces, which appears to be a converted house. Service was prompt, attentive, and pretty friendly. There's a patio overlooking a stage where bands regularly play (but not this night), but there can be loud noise from the road especially with motorcycles. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good. It also comes with apparently house-made dill pickles, and is also topped with deep-fried onions (which could've been done without). There are three barbecue sauces: Original, Sweet, and Mustard. Original was rather bland, Sweet was too sweet, and Mustard was too mustardy. But combining Original and Sweet was just about right. The accompanying side of potato salad appears to be house-made, but was bland and definitely could've used more mustard or something to give it a bit of kick. Free refills on the soda. The pecan pie is good-size and nicely decorated with many lines of caramel sauces. It's also apparently house-made, and really was pretty wonderful and perfectly hit the spot. Front Range Barbecue recently got awarded best barbecue in the state of Colorado by Yahoo Travel. But I think Roaming BBQ in Denver is definitely better, at least for the barbecue. The server said Guy Fieri and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives will be filming there this month.
(4)Nachi D.
Where to start??? Greeted so warmly upon entering...so prompt to sit us down despite our rather large party (7 adults, 2 preteens, 2 toddlers). Efficiently took our many separate orders and brought the food so quick...now for the meat and potatoes...the food. All meat played were juicy and powerfully full of delicious flavor. Their sweet potato bread was amazing...and their corn muffins will result in sweet dreams that night. Great beer selection, amazing service and mind blowing flavorful food items. Make sure to visit!!!
(5)Tanya s.
Front Range BBQ catered a party for us yesterday, with a whole pig and sides. It was perfect. The meat was tender and flavorful, and all we had were raves about how good everything was. We eat at FRBBQ often, and the pork is my favorite in town. Plus they sometimes run duck wings as an appetizer special and they are amazing.
(5)Michelle J.
We are big fans of great BBQ and we had high hopes based on other reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in our meal here. It was a busy Saturday lunch but we were seated quickly and the servers were friendly. It's a cute place in a great location in Old Colorado City. The sweet tea was very good and I liked the spicy cole slaw. The potato salad was good but I prefer more of a mustard base and theirs is more of a mayo base. Our ribs were really tough and my husband said it seemed like they did not remove the membrane from the ribs before cooking. My hubby does slow cooked ribs at home and he says it's a rookie mistake to leave the membrane in place. The brisket was extremely dry and the pork was very fatty. I'm picky about sauces and I didn't really like any of the sauces offered. I don't always use sauce but since the meat was so dry (except the fatty pork) it really needed some. We also thought the prices were pretty high and we ended up spending over fifty dollars for lunch for three of us. My husband and I shared a meal, my son had a kids meal and we had one beer and two drinks. Overall, there are lots of other options for BBQ in town that would be a better choice. To be fair, we didn't complain when we were at the restaurant so they didn't have a chance to correct anything. I don't think it was a fluke that all three meats were either dry or loaded with fat but maybe others have had better experiences.

I give this a great review because the atmosphere is amazing. The staff is super friendly and the bar tender is very personable. The drinks I ordered were not ideal, mainly because they were out of my comfort zone, but that doesn't mean other drinks wouldn't have been superb. Live music is pretty awesome killer blues!! Had sports on TV for those sports lovers!! Will come back when we visit the springs again!!!

Our company Gobin's Inc. recently used Front Range Barbeque for our Company Picnic that was luau themed. We wanted to do a pig roast and Front Range was able to provide us with not only a whole pig but sides and sauces as well! We were extremely impressed by their service and everyone loved the food! Gobin's will definitely be using Front Range for our future parties! Thank you to the Front Range team for making our choice to buy local the right one!

Oh man this place is amazing!!!! Had the pulled pork, green beans and potato salad. My hubby gets the John Alex every time. So delicious! Serving sizes are also on point as you can see with the picture I posted of my child and the John Alex sandwich.

With a friendly greeting as soon as I walked up to the restaurant after a full day on Pike's Peak, this was the perfect ending to the day. I had the Frontier Combo, which consisted of tender-smoked ribs plus two meats of my choice. I chose brisket and sausage. There was also a good band playing that night.

I had the pleasure of eating here this week while on vacation, the ribs are fall off the bone good. I've been ranting and raving about rib crib for years because they have some of if not the best BBQ sauce I've ever had the pleasure of eating (we buy it buy the case now) but the ribs at front range put most other places to shame. They had several types of BBQ sauces I tried Original and the Spicy one and I preferred the one with a bit of kick. The waitress was awesome and really helped the experience. We had a large table of 8 at lunch time and she did a great job of keeping the drinks full and had a wonderful sense of humor. (sorry I don't remember her name but she's the dark haired lady that was behind the bar for any regulars). I shared a 3 meat plate with ribs, chicken and brisket and it all tasted fantastic. The beans were ranch style and awesome though I personally would get something other than the potato salad next time. Thanks for the great meal!

I've been going to this place for over four years and it's gone both up and downhill.Their food is phenomenal and the portions are large. I'm glad they allow adults to get the kid sized plates because I can never finish my adult plate! They sometimes have live music or shows here which are fun to attend. Our waitress let us sample the beer without buying which was great because we ended up not caring for it at all. I think this is a very unique place for a restaurant and I love the decor inside! The bread pudding seems to appear and disappear on the menu which is a shame because it is the best dessert I've ever had! Overall, very polite, prompt staff and very good food! Definitely check this place out!
(4)Tam R.
Ate here for lunch while on vacation. Family shared the BBQ nachos which were really good. I had the beef brisket and potato salad. I found the brisket to be more on the dry side but the salad was delicious. Service was excellent.
(4)Shawn M.
Decent, but not the best BBQ. Their original BBQ sauce is really runny but their Sweet-N-Spicy sauce was decent. Nice environment, but could definitely find better BBQ somewhere else. The staff was friendly, but she got our check confused with another table
(2)Katie G.
Started off with the jalapeño hush puppies...a tad overcooked and not really spicy. I got the pig sandwich, which had pulled pork, sausage, bacon, and onion strings on it. The sausage was the best, the rest was super fatty. Overall, a little pricey, and I'm a stickler for being a clean place. The girls bathroom leaves me with the willies. They are pet friendly and brought our dog some water. Service is extremely slow, not sure if it's because we were the only ones on the deck or not!
(2)Brian W.
There are things I like about Front Range. The atmosphere is cool. They have live music. They have a good beer selection. But the food? As someone who has eaten a lot of BBQ in Memphis and various other parts of the south...it was a real letdown. Sorry, it just was. If you don't have a ton of experience with authentic southern BBQ, I'm sure you would like it. But once you've had melt-in-your-mouth BBQ at bargain basement prices, it's hard to go pay more for mediocre BBQ in other places. I read lots of reviews saying that this is the best BBQ place in town; that may be, but that doesn't mean it truly measures up. If I could give this place 2.5 stars, I would.
(2)Martin D.
My wife and I prefer to find local spots when we are traveling. We were blessed with an amazing dinner at Front Range tonight. Everything was right. We both had half rack of ribs with dry rub, experimenting with a wide range of BBQ sauce choices. The atmosphere was enjoyable and authentically local. Avoid the crowded BBQ chain a few blocks away. Treat yourself to a local phenomenon at Front Range BBQ.
(5)Josh M.
The BBQ is certainly good, but they also have good microbrews and a cute little bar section. The decor is unique...it is rustic with a little extra charm. The Beef and Barley Soup was amazing. The salad was nothing great, but the ribs and brisket were really good.
(5)Liz B.
Do order a pulled pork sandwich to-go here. They were fast, friendly, helpful and what I got was amazing. They wrapped a lightly toasted bun separately from a generous amount of delicious pulled pork also separated from a heaping mount of fresh crispy onion strings and a side of their delicious sauce of your choice. I have never had a sandwich packaged so nicely for take out--and this is my favorite pulled pork sandwich in town.

This is by far the best BBQ joint in the Springs. Great ambience, made up of cool Mardi Gras-style decor and lively lounge music with some classic rock peppered in. This place also features the most unique beer list of any restaurant I've been to in Colorado. The waitresses don't seem to be terribly informed about the selection but as long as you are, you should be all right. Their draught lineup is usually full of hard to find beer and their bottle selection is fantastic. Most of it you can't find in your run-of-the-mill liquor store, which makes me wonder what kind of wizardry the owner must have performed to get his hands on this stuff. As far as the food goes, I don't believe you can do any better in town. And considering this place is less than a mile away from Rudy's, that's saying something. Their brisket is juicy, which is a trait that seems to be absent in most other brisket entrees I've tried in this town. And their ribs. Oh lord, their ribs. Some of the most tender I've ever had. They have great sauces you can add yourself if you feel you need to, but I was far from disappointed by anything this restaurant had to offer. This is my new favorite restaurant, and I will be returning regularly until I can't anymore, and I hope that day never comes.

I placed a $50 dollar order by phone for carry out. I would think that a BBQ would serve bbq sauce with their orders especially when requested twice but we didn't get any. Both my boyfriend and I ordered brisket sandwiches on sweet potato bread with red beans and rice. Though the meat was well cooked the sandwiches were bland due to absolutely no sauce, and I've gotten better red beans and rice from Popeyes. We also ordered the hush puppies which weren't really eaten due to the fact they were so hard and dry like they'd been under a heat lamp for hours. We asked for ranch which might've helped the taste but we didn't receive that either. Bottom line if you're doing carry out double check your food for accuracy and quality, I think next time we'll drive the extra distance to Rudy's and save some $ too.
(1)Jessie C.
I'm just going to go ahead and 5 you guys up. Second visit, darn good both times, brisket so tender... Mmmm. Tried your sour beer on tap yesterday, also fantastic. Keep up the good work.
(5)Johan S.
An excellent experience all and all. Great service, environment and price. Not the best BBQ I have ever had but definitely up there with the likes of Rudy's. I will most certainly come back.
(4)Deb G.
Well, as time goes on, there are definitely some improvements FRB could make. First off, their original sauce is just awful. It's watery and tasteless. You're forced to eat the sweet & sour to get any real BBQ flavor, and I'm always looking for something with less sugar in it. Today's brisket po-boy was tough and way too much bread. I took the top off and ate what I could. I wanted a shrimp po-boy, but undoubtedly that's just a special offer once in a while (?). And, hubs kielbasa sausage plate was overcooked and tough as well. Service was very slow today, and maybe due to it being a Saturday, but it took forever to get our food, and then it was not good. He did enjoy his beer and my green beans were good, but for $40 that ain't much to enjoy. Unfortunately, it's still the best BBQ in the Springs we have found and will go back early on a weeknight when we seem to get much better service and food. But, if they drop one more star, that will be it for us. Tips: Real Southern brisket should be cooked low & slow, overnight and sausage is not suppose to be quick & tough. I usually get the pulled pork sandwich here and maybe that's the one thing they do best....
(3)Paul B.
Very cool hole in the wall type of bbq joint. The decor is funky and inviting. The service was great. The food was excellent. We are still here and already planning when we can get back here this week before we have to head home. The bbq brisket sandwich rocks! The banana pudding was wonderful - my kids didn't like the merengue on it but wifey and I loved it. Highly recommend. Oh - and they had a band playing which just added to the scene.

I was in Colorado Springs for a few days for work. I had gone to Bird Dog BBQ the day before. I was going to give Colorado barbecue another shot. According to others, Front Range Barbeque seemed like a good place to go. You cannot always trust reviews though. Most places have good and bad days. You just never know. That is why I tell everyone to use my reviews as a guide. Front Range Barbeque uses mesquite pellets in their smoker. I have not had meat smoked by wood pellets before. I ordered the Frontier Combo which consisted of ribs plus two meats and two sides. I got moist brisket, sausage, and sides of coleslaw and red beans and rice. The brisket was terrible. It tasted like it was a pot roast cooked in beer. I could not eat more than one slice. It was dry, and if I would venture to say, it was probably smoked a day or two ago. This is probably the first time I have been served reheated brisket. The ribs came naked which meant no sauce on it. They were tender and falling of the bone, but there was not a lot of rub or flavor. They were also dry. The sausage was another commercial sausage made for them in Denver. It was just okay. If I would guess, the sausage was smoked and then reheated on a grill when it was ready to be served. The sides were bland. I did not finish all of the meat or sides. I just could not enjoy the meal. The cornbread was the best thing of the meal if that tells you something. Front Range Barbeque does serve other meats on the menu. I am pretty sure I would not be stopping by again. I just do not agree with how they do their barbecue at Front Range. Just say no to reheated barbecue and yes to fresh smoked meat. I felt bad for the waitress. She knew I did not like it, but there was nothing she could have done. There is a Rudy's Country Store And Bar-B-Q in Colorado Springs if anyone wanted to know. I have yet to try it though, but I would imagine it is the best choice in Colorado Springs.
(1)Rick O.
Great atmosphere great food I found it very easy to find a delicious meal with in the parameters of my diet. Very healthy options the food tasted like food instead out of a microwave.
(5)Steph O.
I thought this place was excellent. I'm actually surprised there weren't more stars. My husband loved the ribs, I loved the burger and the artichoke app was fantastic. The pecan pie was the best ever and I am actually not even a pecan pie fan. We will be coming back for sure.
(4)Tim E.
Overall not a bad experience. Food was good, not exceptional. Menu is a little pricey. I got the platter with chicken, grilled sausage, potato salad and baked beans. The sausage was great. There is sauce at the table and I needed to drench my chicken and beans with it. I am a sauce guy, so that's what I do. Sauce was okay. Overall just an okay experience. I am not particularly impressed, but not rubbed the wrong way at all. Next time I will try the ribs!
(4)Sarah K.
My husband and I randomly found this place while driving around and decided to stop. I'm so glad we did because I truly enjoyed the dining experience. The service was great, everyone was very efficient and nice. We had no wait to sit at our table, but that's probably because we went during the week. I had the pulled pork plate, which was good but not the best I've had. I will say the ambiance is well worth a visit though, there was a band playing and we truly enjoyed listening while finishing our meal. Oh, and the dessert was great! I highly recommend Granny's Apple Crunch.
(4)Taylor L.
They do have some great menu items, but I felt that my pulled pork sandwich was not very good, considering thats a staple for a BBQ place. My boyfriend had the brisket though which was amazing and thats probably what I will have if I go back again! Also the jalapeño hush puppies were very good and piping hot on arrival! It is also a great place in the summertime with a huge, enclosed patio and live music!
(4)Amanda R.
I went on a date here a few days ago and the service was great! We shared artichoke hearts as a starter. They were hot, fresh, and delicious. I had a veggie burger and cole slaw. I loved my meal from start to finish.
(5)Chelsea S.
While visiting Colorado last month, I had the pleasure of dining at this cute BBQ joint. Front Range is most popular for the Ribs, I couldn't resist the hickory smell and opted for the BBQ Burger served medium rare. Our server, Mel, was great. Her service is the reason for the 4th star. Mel is a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress. She was quick to tell us what her favorite entrees are and which menu items are most popular. I wanted a locally brewed beer and she brought me a fresh draught that was brewed right down the street from the restaurant. Her personality compensated for the slow kitchen/food time. The BBQ burger was served pink and juicy, full of flavor and plenty to share. It was heavenly. The establishment was clean and tidy - with limited space for patrons. It was a great place to have dinner with friends and I enjoyed the warm cozy atmosphere. Apparently there was a band on the patio but it was too full for us to check it out. I don't know that I will go back there on my next vacation but I would recommend Front Range BBQ to anyone looking for a good burger, fresh beer or a good bite to eat at a down home southern style restaurant.
(4)Mathew H.
The brisket and sausage was amazing! Drinks were good with a nice beer selection. Great food, good music and great service.
(5)Richard R.
Enclosed patio is very nice. Food is classic, good BBQ. Artichoke hearts appetizer is great. Baked beans very good. Desserts are fabulous especially the pecan pie. Good service and very reasonable prices. A highlight is the live music. Grant Sabin, one of the best blues guitarist/singer, played last night. Fabulous show
(5)Scott M.
FRB was recommended to me by a friend. When I first entered the building I was met by a very nice hostess who was genuinely interested in helping my friend and I. There was a short wait, it was a Saturday night, with a live band who was great. After we got on the waiting list and were told that it would about 20 minutes and we were led to the bar area. The bar was nice and had a great selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles. Bartender was very friendly. As we listen to the music, we were notified by the hostess that our table was ready (less than a 10 minute wait). The menu was very easy to read and follow. Our server made recommendations on appetizers and the main meal. Food came out right away and very hot. Food was great. The brisket, the red beans and rice, the pulled pork was so tender it just melted in my mouth. On the table are three types of BBQ sauces, the sweet and spicy was my choice; very balanced and very good. It was a great dining experience. I recommend to anyone that likes BBQ to give FRB a try, they wont be disappointed.
(5)Kendra M.
We didn't like the BBQ. Maybe the other food is good? I really wanted to like it, but was pretty disappointed. I've had BBQ many places across the country and this isn't the worst, but I wouldn't go back for it. Bummer.
(2)Peggy B.
Fun and boisterous with lots of people and live music. Sat in the outdoor patio section, which was plenty warm despite the cold temps tonight. Generous portions, and the pulled pork with Sweet and Spicy sauce is to die for. The slaw is simple and light with a cayenne pepper kick, and the beans and rice are average. Service was awesome and the wait time for a Friday night was way less than expected.
(3)Katherine S.
The BBQ was not impressive, and I woke up sick in the middle of the night. It's frustrating to spend $40 on a meal (for 2) and feel like that. At least the service was good.
(1)Raymond L.
Delicious pulled pork. Amazing service. Great beer selection. I approve. Tim is a great bartender. The staff and owner are engaging and welcoming.
(5)Lonnie S.
Had an hour to kill. Stopped in for a drink. Ordered the Front Range BBQ Bloody Mary ($6). Never had BBQ sauce in a bloody mary before but this works. Ambience was softly lit and Lumineers played loud enough to listen to but not so loud we couldn't talk.
(4)Joe S.
Very cool ambiance and way above average BBQ make this place well worth the stop. The hot apple crisp desert was AWESOME!!! No live music the night we were there which sounds great. Thanks!
(4)Scott B.
This place is phenomenal! It takes a minute to get seated but once you are seated the service is prompt and helpful. I ordered the bratwurst special, basically a philly cheese steak with bratwurst instead of beef, beer mustard, green peppers, Swiss cheese and onion straws. My food was delivered hot and the fries crispy. For dessert I'd recommend the decadent bread pudding with toffee bits and caramel drizzle.
(5)Roy B.
How do you not like a joint that serves Northern Carolina BBQ has bluegrass & jug band music on the patio, has a full bar with a great craft beer selection is dog friendly and resides in a old house converted into a hipster BBQ joint. Is there such a thing? Well Front Range Barbeque is about as close as you'll find anywhere I know of and I've been to a few BBQ spots in my day. yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… On vacation I always hit a few BBQ joints wherever I may be. I've had some good and some bad. This time I had FRB on my radar after visiting Manitou Springs. Good find for me! yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… A long hot day on the road after pouring rain and hailstorm I was parched! Nitro Milk Stout to the rescue! yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… pulled off one of the many taps in the small bar in the rear yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… Oh yea did I mention the hillbilly bands on the patio? yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… Freakin awesome! FOOD ORDERED: Ribs ... w/ Red Beans & Red Rice & Baked Beans w/Bacon n Onions yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… Beef Brisket ... w/ Corn on the Cobb & Onion Strings yelp.com/biz_photos/fron… Grilled Cheese Sandwich & fruit for my youngest daughter (not alaways a Q fan YET!) FOOD TASTE: First off I tried all 3 BBQ sauces: Original Tangy ...Liked this one. 4****Star Sweet n' Spicy ... Run of the mill S&S Q sauce 3***Star Mustard Wine ... liked this one too, wish they would have cooked it into my ribs. 4****Star Beef Brisket ... w/ Corn on the Cobb, Onion Strings & cornbread My teenage daughter had this one and while the C on the C was cold and old like it had been sitting in a pot all day the Onion Strings were good dipped in the sauce but the star was the Brisket a fairly generous portion that had some good smoke yet was almost fork tender. We both gave it a solid 4.5 / 5*****Stars My youngster had the Grill cheese & side of fruit ,,,, She liked it and ate it all. The fruit was a nice option for the little ones. She gave it 4***Stars Ribs ... w/ Red Beans & Red Rice & Baked Beans w/Bacon n Onions & cornbread OK here is where it went downhill for me. The sides were OK but nothing special. The beans were something I'd eat again. But lets talk about false advertising on the SMOKED ribs. These were clearly boiled or steamed ribs that were either grilled or maybe tossed into a smoker for a short while but they certainly were not true smoked ribs! Luckily the Q-sauce made them tolerable. Beware! 2**Stars SERVICE: The waitress in our little room was a cranky sort who took forever with everything! I get it, but how long does it really take to get some sauce or a cold beer? Grumpy impatient attitude. Wish we'd eaten outside where the crowd and service looked a bit more lively. I'd have surely have stayed for another beer or two. Also kind of odd how the whole room of 4 tables had to share a beer menu...... 1*Star. This place has amazing potential but the service and ribs need some help! Still I'd give them another shot if in the area. but I'd eat outside and skip the ribs.
(3)James H.
These guys hit a home run. Order whatever the hell want from the menu, you'll get the straight skinny from your waiter. Wanna know what the best beer is? There's an app for that. Or your waiter will know. They are great with free samples of stuff you've never tried.
(5)John O.
I was lucky enough to attend a private party that was catered by Front Range BBQ. I didn't know what to expect, but was blown away by the brisket, chicken, and sweet potato rolls. The owner Brian is extremely knowledgable about food and beer, and is one of the nicest guys I've met. Speaking of the beer, he told me what they had on tap in the restaurant and all of the local breweries they support. I was impressed. He's passionate about providing people an excellent food & drink experience, and it shows. Try this place! You will not be disappointed!!
(5)Nathan B.
Went for a late lunch and were impressed with both the food and the staff. This is a great allergen-friendly barbeque place with fresh, homemade meats and sides. We started with smoked artichoke hearts and homemade pork rinds. Both were excellent. The artichokes were crisp with a great delicate smokey flavor, and the pork rinds were bold and spicy. For the main course, we had about every type of meat served. We had ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked sausage and fried catfish. Our boys said the ribs were the best they had ever had and I think the everyone else agreed that they were pretty awesome. For me, the beer-braised beef brisket was the highlight though. Perfectly cooked - not dry or tough at all. And the taste was great. By itself it had a great smokey flavor with a hint of the beer. Paired with the handmade sauces was great as well. The pulled pork was lean and tasty as well. The handmade sides were great as well. We had baked beans, spicy coleslaw, rice and beans, fried okra and the onion straws. All were very good. I liked the coleslaw, but thought it could use more spice and heat. Our server was excellent and knew the menu well. He was attentive and all the orders came out perfect. The place itself is a little dark on the inside and the fact that it used to be a house is very evident. For me this added to the place's atmosphere, but others may not like it. By far, this is one of the best, allergy friendly places I've eaten at. A large part of their menu was free of wheat/gluten, dairy, egg and nuts. This was extraordinary compared to most menus where we can only find one, maybe two things. The staff was also very careful to listen to the allergens and took great care of us. I think will be coming back whenever we can!
(5)Brittany C.
We ate the Jalapeno Hushpuppies (amazing) and Apple dessert (good flavor, not so great texture or presentation). Craft beers awesome. Local beers awesome. We listened to the band in the outdoor area. Well heated for the season. Our server, Brian, was quick and friendly. Will return!
(5)Herb T.
Passing by in Colorado Spgs and it caught my eye. Righteous pulled pork and cole slaw. Killer pecan pie. Worth the stop. Kind of a cool hipster vibe a pleasant change from the rather sterile environment of Colorado Springs
(5)Lindsay P.
This place is quite delicious and our waitress was really nice. I had the pulled chicken sandwich and it was incredibly delicious. The chicken was very moist and tender and the onion strings on top added a nice touch. My husband had the dry rub ribs which he said were really good as well. I will definitely eat here again, but one bit of advice I would give is steer clear of the banana pudding dessert. The banana pudding is the worst pudding I have ever had in my life. It was runny with weird chunks of who knows what in it. Despite the nasty pudding I highly recommend this restaurant.
(4)Richard F.
Great sauces. Great BBQ and Great Service. Ps. And the waitress almamader is ASU. Good prices.
(5)Karen L.
Originally from t he south so im rather particular with my bbq...impressed. Had the half rack of ribs. Yum! Brisket and pulled pork were really good too.
(4)Samantha L.
Sooo good. I live in Denver and I'd be willing to drive all the way out here again just for the pulled pork sandwich. Plus the place is cute, too. Worth stopping!
(5)Mielita R.
Front Range, why did you stop pulling your pork?! Those are pork CHUNKS. I have eaten enough barbecue to know. Fool me once...
(2)Terry W.
This place is so hit and miss I can not give it a great review. Serve one day would be great and the next it seems like they forget that they are a service oriented business. Food is okay but definitely not worth paying much for it.
(2)Dixie P.
My husband and I love this place. Live music wednesdays and saturdays starting at 7:00pm, they keep a list of the musicians on the table so you know who is performing on any given day. We have been here twice now, and have tried the ribs, pork nachos, and a burger which for the life of me I can't remember the name of but it was amazing. All the food is amazing. Excellent service, particularly by Chase who recommended beers, and commented on dishes we asked about. DONT' LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING THE PECAN PIE WITH ICE CREAM. Best pecan pie I have ever tried, hands down. Slice comes to the table warm with two scoops of ice cream which offset the warmth of the pie perfectly, AND to make all things better it is loaded with pecans. Effing fabulous.
(5)Crystal K.
I love the red beans and rice! Their sauces are yummy and their meats tender. It's great southern BBQ in Colorado!
(4)Robin B.
Was there for lunch. We ordered combo plates of brisket/pulled pork, and brisket/pulled chicken. Sides were baked beans, potato salad, and rice & beans and cole slaw. All three meats were edible but bland. Tried the three offered tableside squeeze bottles of sauce, but they were watery and weird tasting. Of the sides, the potato salad was the best, but also bland. Baked beans and cole slaw tasted funny. Rice and beans shared that quality but also were spicy hot. Service was acceptable. Bill was adjusted by the server due to the subpar food. The odds of us returning? Pretty remote.
(2)Tim K.
The "special of the day" Friday night was not at all special. A friend also ordered the jambalaya, hardly even tasted it and ended up getting it taken off his tab. I know I know, I ordered jambalaya at a BBQ joint. But if they're going to go out on a limb to serve it as the special... Front Range DOES have a killer beer list. And does carry the The Springs very own 291 Whiskey. Definitely have the fried pickles and the fried artichoke hearts.
(2)Liss B.
This place was great. Cool, casual, laid back setting. The shredded chicken was awesome and I loved the sauces they had on the table. The tables inside were a little close together so other customers and waiters kept bumping into my chair. They have a nice riesling on the menu, which went well with my chicken. The corn bread was ok, onion rings were awesome! Fries weren't salted, which I enjoyed, so many places load them up! I'll be back next time I'm in town.
(4)Lan K.
I really enjoyed Front Range Barbecue. I loved how they had the vegetarian option of black bean burgers. They were really tasty. They didn't stay together really like a burger but whatever, I just used a knife and fork. The onion straws on it were delicious. I also LOVED their sauces - original bbq, sweet and spicy, and mustard. Well, I only had the first two, but they were AH-mazing! Their fries and coleslaw were also very good. The sauce on the coleslaw was not too thick - just right. The only thing, I thought it was a bit expensive for a veggie burger. Really, $9 dollars?! Service was great though. Prompt and delightful. Sat in the patio with the heaters, not bad at all in November.
(4)Sara B.
Seriously good brisket, try fried okra and hush puppies. But the pecan pie is TOO DIE FOR! A must try!
(5)Cecily C.
Completely missed the craziness of territory days on Monday. We started walking in and saw Front Range. I had been wanting to try the place out for a while now. Great beer options and prices. We had Bitburgers and the Front Range burger. It was so delicious. Can't wait to stop in on a Sunday when it's Happy Hour all day and listen to some music.
(5)John P.
Good food, great beers and wines available. Sit out on the front patio, kick back, and listen to some tunes while you nosh. I love the footlights made from a coffee can and colored cellophane...fits perfectly. Like most places in this part of the Springs, it is very gluten-free/veggie/vegan friendly, except for the meats, natch.
(4)Scott F.
The brisket and ribs where nice and tender but was missing the smokey flavor. Good tho!! Drinks where not good at all. ( Colorado Peach Sour)( Apple Cider)
(3)Larisa R.
Huge portions. Sweet & smokey baked beans were great. Brisket, pork, & ribs all tender and juicy.
(4)Neb P.
Great beer. Good food. Ribs are hit or miss. if you hit, they're awesome! Beer menu is micros and they change frequently. For sides, one of my favorites is the French fries with cracked pepper sauce. The desserts are awesome.
(5)Stephen N.
The food was wonderful and the locale extremely down to earth.
(5)Jen Z.
There are times I love this place, and times it's just ok. The service can be great or the service can be awful. Awful is more rare than great, so I keep going back. As far as BBQ is concerned, it is nothing to write home about, honestly. I usually get a salad (with bacon as a topping!) or a spicy veggie burger, add bacon. Are you sensing a theme here? The sides are pretty solid, and the banana pudding is amazing. If you are from someplace that has great BBQ though, don't come here for the meat. So... why come here? For the bluegrass and the awesome rotating beer list! They have a great covered patio w bluegrass or other live music 2-3 nights per week during the summer and their list of local and non-local microbrews is one of the best in the city, IMO. They even have an iphone app so you can see what is on tap and who is playing! The music and the beer are why I keep going back! Oh, and they have a great Halloween party too!

Awesome food I have tried everything over the years and Monica is the prettiest girl I have ever seen you can take my order anytime and they have a great beer menu and the mini cornbread muffins will melt in your mouth and the homemade bbq sauce is the best

Great everything! I have been here probably 15 times and have loved it every time. The service is a little slow but if you relax and just enjoy sitting and listening to music you won't even notice. They have music every Wednesday and Saturday night which is usually bluegrass and always awesome. The BBQ sauce is pretty good, with the sweet and spicy being the highlight for me. The ribs are great, the brisket in any form is fantastic, although it is pulled and not sliced which some may not like. Also a really really good beer list that features many local brews. Oh and I almost forgot, sit on the patio. Even if it is the dead of winter, sit on the patio. The inside is not great, but they have heaters and everything out there so enjoy!

Great spot for some BBQ, a beer and live music some nights. Its a fun time out. I've had almost everything but the brisket and sausage are my two favorites. Staff Is always super friendly and they have a great beer selection too.

Front Range BBQ definitely has a great thing going for themselves when it comes to the taste of their food. Twice now I decided to go with the pulled chicken plate and really feel the same way about each time I've had it. It's really good chicken but "a mound of tender succulent chicken" it was not. This is unfortunate because for $14 bucks, you would think you would leave pretty satisfied with the thought of a plate full of chicken. The portion of fries was double the chicken, the cole slaw was good, but they didn't serve any corn muffins as the menu indicated this plate is served with them. I'm not sure I will keep throwing money at this place as $20 can go a long way when it comes to getting a decent sized portion from other places that are locally owned. Overall I think the food is good, but the actual portions of meat(chicken in my case) was lacking.

I really enjoyed Front Range. The barbecue was very good (I had the pulled pork plate), the sides were enjoyable, and the beer selection was great. When they didn't have the beer I wanted, our waitress recommended a similar beer I might like, and then brought a sample so that I could try it before committing. I've seen a few other reviewers complain that their food tasted steamed, and I didn't get that impression at all. I grew up in a house with a professional smoker in the driveway, and I thought Front Range did a decent job of delivering. I mean...we're not in Kansas City here, but it was pretty darn good-- definitely better than some of the BBQ chains, like Famous Dave's. Not only was the Front Range food good, but it had a nice, casual feel. The waitstaff was great, and there was a guy performing live music, which was that ideal volume level where a) you can hear it, but b) it doesn't overpower your dinner conversation. I'd definitely go back to Front Range, and probably try to sit outside next time-- it looked like a nice patio.

We ordered our food to go and it was our first time eating here. Their ribs were good, it was falling off the bone and tender. I also liked their corn bread muffins. They had interesting sauces but I've had better. As we were ordering our food I over heard our waitress telling others that we were ordering to go and probably would not be getting "a lot of tip." This almost made me walk out. I thought that was just ridiculous and distasteful in my opinion but I had family waiting. She was an older blonde lady with a loud distinguishable voice.

If you love Southern style BBQ then this is your place. The atmosphere is fun and they have live entertainment on the weekend. That being said get there early if you want a seat on the patio. The full bar is a nice addition after a long day. The spicy coleslaw is great.

Went there last Saturday, wait was long and people were smoking by the door. It was really annoying....that's the worst. When you want to smell good food and then you get a nose full of cigarette smell. Disgusting....!!!! But moving on to the food. We finally got sat after 35 minutes. Service was great and the food was even better. I enjoyed the music and atmospher. The hostess needs to be more on the people smoking next to the door. It's 10 feet outside the restaurant. Other then that it was awesome. I recommend this place but not on the weekend.

Just a great little restaurant in a converted house with a nice patio, great service, fantastic local beer selection and wonderful food. The naked ribs are fantastic, don't pass them up. The Red Beans and Rice are mild, with great flavor. They have normal, greasy fries (not those huge steak fries that actually taste like potato) which I love! The pulled brisket was great by itself or with the Original Tangy sauce (my fav). Our server had great beer recommendations and was very attentive. We just had a great lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. I recommend you check it out. PS- If you have one of those Colorado Beer Maps with accompanying coupon book, you can get a Free brew here ;)

I can't believe people in the Springs are raving over Front Range Barbeque. I just moved here and have been hitting every BBQ spot in town, and Front Range was a big let down. It's not real barbeque, plain and simple. No smoke on the meat, no dry rub spice I could pick up on. Someone else already said it, the texture and taste made it seem like it was steamed, and he was spot on in his assessment. The atmosphere is awesome, the location is fantastic but the food falls flat on its face. This is not good BBQ folks. If you're a BBQ fanatic looking for good que, keep on walking because it's not worth your money.

Good BBQ with different sauces to try. Onion rings are perfect. Gentle music and live band add to the flavor.

This was our second stop on our Springs Beer tour. We had the beagles, and they were dog friendly on the patio. They had a very nice beer selection, and we ordered the Rib lets for an appetizer for $10. OMG, very good. Our dogs tasted them too, and loved it. They come without sauce, and you pick the sauces you would like. Service was excellent and friendly. Nice, relaxing patio. Again, the dogs love the water they brought out for them.

Well, if you are looking for some good BBQ, a decent selection of beer and live music then Front Range is your destination. Parking can be a bit of a hassle and we ended up parking a couple blocks away. The waitresses are super friendly and reasonably attentive. I ordered the 1/2 slab of ribs, naked so that I could try out the different BBQ sauces on the table. The original tangy and sweet n' spicy BBQ sauces were pretty tasty. For my two sides, I ordered the Louisiana red beans and rice and Mom's corn and pea salad. The beans and rice were excellent and had a bit of a kick to them. I highly encourage people to give them a try. The corn n' pea salad was just okay. I tried one of the chili beers - Billies Chillies. For the first few sips I could taste the chili but after that I didn't really notice it any more. It was not particularly spicy. One of my friends ordered the Mom's banana pudding. He raved about it and said that it was very authentic and that it was the best he has ever had in a restaurant and second only to his mother's. So, of course, I had to order it ;p - even though the rest the party was ready to go. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was pretty good. It had whipped cream and nilla wafers.

I am updating my review on this restaurant because I received a very friendly email from the owner - who I found out one of my friends knows, or is at least an acquaintance. The manager apologized - and I of course will accept. If you did not have the opportunity to read my first review, it explained that I have visited this location on Sunday with friends and had really enjoyed the food! However, when we paid the bill the waitress explained she had made a mistake and ran my card for the wrong amount. She said she had fixed the issue, but later I found out she had not. My bank had three charges, which were all just pending, however it caused me to receive overdraft charges, as I had just enough left on the card to pay for the one charge. I bank with ENT - and they provided me with a refund of the charges (I LOVE ENT). So, anyway, back to the fun part of the review - I loved eating here. The atmostphere was very neat and homey (duh its in an old house!) and the staff was friendly. I just hope there is a bit more training with their staff to avoid such errors, as mine. I have had the worst luck at different restaurants making mistakes, everything from double charging to waitresses taking extra for their tips...I mean, seriously, this is just poor customer service. But, I am glad to know there is an owner who does respond and show he cares!

Meh, its just ok, nothing special at all. Just a hunk of not so tender pig ribs with not a whole lot of flavor. The sauces are just ok too. Im aware this review is boring, so is the food at Front Range. 2 stars. Pass

I've been eating here for ~10 years and it just keeps getting better. It's North Carolina style barbeque so it might be different from what you're used to, just sayin'. If you don't understand the differences between regional styles of BBQ, you should Google it. Or just stick to the chain places. North Carolina BBQ is all about slow-cooked-meat, and the sauces, which are incredible. And are also good for dipping fries in. Let's see, what else do I love here? Fried catfish, coleslaw, red beans and rice, and those adorable little corn muffins. Front Range is the real deal, and the atmosphere is **amazing**. Live bands are always the best. And the bar is awesome too, with a huge focus on local stuff. It's truly a gem. But whatever, if you don't get it, you don't get it. More for me.

Was just there on May 10th for Mother's Day. The food was horrible. The pulled pork didn't have a smoky flavor. It tasted like nothing. Almost like they put it in the oven. My husband had ribs. He said they were tough and no smoky flavor at all. They were smothered in BBQ sauce, I guess to try to make up for the flavor. He didn't even finish them. And if you knew him, that's pretty bad! He also ordered the Jalapeno & Cheddar Hush Puppies. They came out burnt. I mentioned it to our server who politely got us another batch. Unfortunately they were burnt too. Didn't matter, my husband said they weren't good anyways. On the plus side, the sweet tea was good and so were the hand cut french fries. My boys got wings and said the flavor was good but a little dry. All in all a big disappointment. It was my first time there and won't be going back:(

Better than Bird Dog and Famous Dave's. So after being disappointed with my meal at Bird Dog's I decided to give Front Range a try. Not bad at all. I agree with other folks on this board...no smoke flavor and no BBQ aroma (definitely not what I'm used to in Texas), but the food wasn't bad. I had pulled meat (pork, brisket, chicken) sliders and the overall taste was good. I don't think I would have liked the meat on its own, but the toasted rolls, onion straws and pickle sliders were quite tasty. Good selection of beer too. And service was friendly and efficient. And the VERY best part...the home made fries. AWESOME! I tried so hard not to finish them off, but I couldn't...ate them ALL! Didn't even use ketchup. They were great as is...crispy and tasty. You have to come here for the fries...trust me. So this place definitely has a hipster vibe...a little weird for a BBQ joint, but it's worth a try.

I think we just had BOILED MEAT at a so called BBQ' place! No seasoning and no smoke flavors to be found on any of the 3 meats I had. (Pork, Chicken and Brisket). I have never experienced anything like this before! The other positive posts from customers on yelp and yahoo are very unbelievable at this point.

I don't know if its a lack of experience with real BBQ or a hit and miss cooking experience but I found the food here to be worse then trough feeding! The pulled pork I ordered came so bland I had to drown the poor pig in table sauce just to choke it down. Just for clarity I prefer fine dining, spicy flavor profiles and I've lived in Texas and Northern California where Tri Tip is a food group! Also, growing up in south philly you'd be surprised just how good the BBQ gets back east... just saying, I know my BBQ. The atmosphere is all that of a 13th century dungeon! I didn't eat outside, but I wouldn't ever bother to go back. To bad because I live right by the place. Maybe people like the serving sizes? I mean I had more then half a pig on my plate, not including the pound of potato salad side dish and some other forgettable item. I thought I was eating at a diabetic restaurant for all the flavor it had. The service was eh, not worth talking about and the darkness of the place gives it such a dirty feel. Don't eat here if your claustrophobic! Seriously, you'd think the walls were closing in with all the clutter and dang decor. Wish I had something good to say...

BEST bbq in town, hands down!
